Undergraduate Research
Currently, I am working on an independent study where I am converting
qualitative data into quantitative data for two graduate students working on a research project. I am using R to do this and I am also cleaning any data that does not belong along the way.
Independent Study
Here are two short clips of work I did during my independent study Winter quarter 2015. It was a fun and challenging experience to learn After Effects but I am glad I did it and learned a large amount. This study also gave me more experience using Adobe Illustrator. I now feel very confident using it and can apply what I have learned to other projects in other classes.
Steam Research
In Sociology 401 (Data Sciences and Population Processes), we learned about using R programming and how it could be implemented to gather data from sources like Twitter, Facebook, etc. using their API's. One large portion of the class was to come up with a research project to focus on over the quarter. I decided to focus on the online marketplace for PC video games called Steam. Using Steam's API and my own R code, I was able to pull user data and make maps and charts of user locations using Tableau. This research project gave me valuable real-world application while I was still learning R programming and I enjoyed it overall.
